No judgement · Flexible times · Online across the UK · From £25 per hour

Lots of adults need maths later in life, and it can feel daunting to go back to it. It does not have to. As an adult maths tutor I have supported many learners returning to study, and we always begin gently, building from what you already know.

There is no pressure and no judgement here, just steady, encouraging support shaped entirely around you. Most people are surprised by how quickly their confidence grows once the maths is explained clearly and kindly.

Why adults come to me

Whatever brought you back to maths.

People take up maths again for all sorts of reasons. Whatever yours is, we will build a calm, practical plan around it, and I will be honest about the best route, whether that is rebuilding confidence, Functional Skills, or a GCSE resit.

Common reasons

  • A career change or a job that needs maths
  • A college, university or training course requirement
  • Resitting GCSE maths or taking Functional Skills
  • Helping your own children with their maths
  • Professions like nursing, teaching or the emergency services
  • Simply closing a gap that has bothered you for years

Routes for adult learners

Confidence, Functional Skills or GCSE.

Depending on what you need, we might focus on everyday number confidence, Functional Skills Maths at Level 1 or Level 2, or resitting GCSE maths. Not sure which is right? That is exactly what the free first chat is for. You can also read more about me.

Common questions

Adult maths tutoring questions.

I haven’t done maths in years. Is it too late?

Not at all, and you are very welcome here. I work with a lot of adult learners and we always start from what you already know, at a relaxed pace, with no judgement. Most people are surprised by how quickly it starts to come back.

What maths can you help adults with?

Everyday number confidence, Functional Skills Maths Levels 1 and 2, and GCSE maths including resits. Whether you need a qualification or just want to feel capable with numbers again, we shape the lessons around your goal.

Do I need a qualification, or just confidence?

Either is completely fine. Some adults come to me to pass a specific exam; others simply want to understand maths better for work or daily life. We focus on whatever matters to you.

Will I feel embarrassed if I have forgotten the basics?

Never with me. There is no class to keep up with and no one to feel awkward in front of, just calm, patient, one-to-one support. No question is ever too small.

Are the lessons online and flexible?

Yes. All lessons are one-to-one and online, so you can learn from home anywhere in the UK, and we can find times that fit around work and family.
