Level 1 & Level 2 · Online across the UK · From £25 per hour
Functional Skills Maths is built around the maths you actually use: money, measures, percentages, data and problem solving. It is offered at Level 1 and Level 2, and Level 2 is widely accepted in place of GCSE maths, which makes it a popular, practical route for adults, school leavers and apprentices.
I specialise in helping nervous and returning learners pass without the stress. We start from what you already know, fill the gaps patiently, and practise with past papers until the exam feels manageable.

What is Functional Skills Maths?
Functional Skills Maths is a practical, real-world maths qualification offered at Level 1 and Level 2. Instead of abstract problems, it focuses on the maths you use in everyday life and work: money, measurements, percentages, data and problem solving.
Is Functional Skills Maths the same as GCSE?
It is a separate qualification, but Level 2 is broadly equivalent to a GCSE grade 4 and is widely accepted in its place by employers, colleges and apprenticeship providers. Many people choose Functional Skills as a faster, more practical route than resitting GCSE.
Which level do I need?
Most courses, jobs and apprenticeships ask for Level 2, but Level 1 is the right starting point if your confidence is low or it has been a while. In a free first chat I will help you choose the right level for your goal.
Which exam boards do you cover?
All the main Functional Skills awarding bodies, including Pearson Edexcel, City & Guilds, NCFE and Open Awards. We practise in the format your exam uses.
Are the lessons online?
Yes, every lesson is one-to-one and online, so you can learn from home anywhere in the UK with just a laptop or tablet and an internet connection.
